What Defines Our Work

We guide our work through a resilient human development approach that seeks to improve the living conditions and opportunities of all people by protecting and strengthening their capabilities and agency in the face of shocks and adversity.
We take into account the biological, psychological, social, cultural, and contextual dimensions that shape each person's life journey. This means recognizing people in light of their current circumstances, their past experiences, and their aspirations for the future. We are committed to strengthening the freedoms and potential of every individual, understanding these as the foundation for sustainable change driven by engaged citizenship and transformative leadership. Guided by the conviction that everyone has the capacity to learn throughout life, we strive to ensure that all our interventions contribute to strengthening the capacities to 'learn to know', 'learn to be', 'learn to do', and 'learn to live together' (Jacques Delors).
We believe that every person, regardless of their circumstances, is entitled to universal human rights that must be respected, protected, and fulfilled in a fair, equitable, and comprehensive manner. Everyone also has the right to seek a better life. From this perspective, the Camino Vital Foundation works to advance the realization of these rights. We place particular emphasis on promoting equal opportunities and the meaningful participation of women, recognizing that persistent discrimination, sexist practices, and gender stereotypes continue to create barriers to their full development and well-being.
We believe in collective processes grounded in empathy, equity, compassion, and non-discrimination. We value and respect social, cultural, geographic, and environmental diversity, as well as the complexity of human relationships, recognizing them as essential to achieving lasting change. Accordingly, we promote the active participation of communities, acknowledging not only their understanding of the challenges they face but also their strengths, knowledge, and aspirations.
Finally, we are committed to mitigating any unintended negative effects that our work may have on individual and community dynamics. We continuously adapt our actions to ensure they are relevant, timely, and context-sensitive, while fostering mutual respect, collective care, and the principle of doing no harm.
