ICRC Warns Again About the Humanitarian Situation in Colombia

"During the first half of 2025, the humanitarian situation in Colombia worsened considerably, with increasingly severe consequences for the civilian population. The impact on communities exceeded the one recorded in the same period in 2024. If this trend continues, 2025 will close as the year with the worst humanitarian conditions of the last decade" (ICRC Colombia, 2025).

"Beyond the numbers, it is the communities that have shared with us their fears and vulnerabilities in the face of the risks to which they feel increasingly exposed" (ICRC Colombia, 2025).

Humanitarian Report 2025 - Colombia

In 2024, the humanitarian situation in Colombia deteriorated to its worst point in eight years, warned the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at the launch of its Humanitarian Challenges 2025 report. Hostilities intensified, respect for international humanitarian law (IHL) diminished, and armed groups tightened their control over the civilian population, putting the lives, integrity and dignity of thousands of people at grave risk.
