June 20, #WorldRefugeeDay
December 18, #InternationalMigrantDay
We invite you to pause for a moment and reflect on the humanity of refugees and migrants.
Every person who seeks refuge in another community or another country, because they have been displaced, must leave their “safe” place.
Every migrant carries with them a story, a culture, and a life experience in the search for a better future.
People on the move often face extreme situations of insecurity, violence, and vulnerability. They also risk not being welcomed, being stigmatized, and being rejected. They are not the problem. They are not synonymous with insecurity. Many lives are lost along the way, between towns, between countries, in the Darién jungle, at sea, and in so many other places.
Humanity knows no borders or walls. Guided by hope and solidarity, we express our deepest support for all those who are forced to leave their homes. We recognize their courage and the contributions they make to the societies that welcome them.
For them, those who are alive and those who are no longer with us, we call on you today to recognize them and remember that, like you, they are human lives.
Bob Dylan - "If you see her, say hello"
